Our principals

Arthur H. “Mike” Forbes, Jr.  (1937-2013)

Mike, founder and Chairman of Turm. Mike was a University of Pittsburgh graduate geologist with over 50 years of practical experience in the oil and gas industry.  Mike was a long standing member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (Certified Petroleum Geologist #989); The American Institute of Professional Geologists (Certified Professional Geologist #2605); The Society of Petroleum Engineers of A.I.M.E.; The Pittsburgh Geological Society; and was a Pennsylvania Registered Professional Geologist #PG-000705-G (registered by the Department of State of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania). He formerly served three terms as Chairman of the Board of the Pennsylvania Oil and Gas Association (POGAM), and one term as Regional Vice President of the Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA).  Mike has drilled oil and gas wells in over 26 states and Canada. He currently consults on properties in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Michigan, Kansas, Texas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma.

Dickson K. “Deke” Forbes

Deke is an officer and director of Turm and is a Pennsylvania State University graduate, who has received practical oil and gas course work at The Colorado School of Mines and MBA course work at The University of Pittsburgh and Duquesne University. Deke has been involved in various aspects of the oil and gas business for over 20 years. He is an active member of the Independent Oil and Gas Association of Pennsylvania, and a Board Member of the Marcellus Shale Coalition, and currently oversees all administrative aspects of Turm and its affiliates, including revenue distribution, commodity marketing, legal and financial evaluation, and project implementation. Featured in 2010 "U.S. Executive Journal”.

Douglas N. Forbes

Douglas is an officer and director of Turm and is a graduate of Pittsburgh Technical Institute, with concentrations in C.A.D.D. and engineering.  Doug has over 30 years of practical oil and gas experience, including being involved in the completion of several hundred Appalachian Basin gas wells (shallow sandstone and deep shale) and nine Marcellus Shale wells. Doug currently manages field operations of Turm’s Indiana County wells and the operations of an oil and gas drilling and operations subsidiary. He also oversees Turm’s fleet of well servicing equipment. Doug and Dan provide hands-on field engineering on all new drilling projects.

Daniel A. Forbes

Daniel is an officer and director of Turm and attended Allegheny College before forming, building and selling a business unrelated to the oil and gas industry. Dan has over 20 years of practical oil and gas experience, including involvement in the completion of over 150 Appalachian Basin sandstone wells and nine Marcellus Shale wells. Dan has completed recent accredited course work in Texas and Pennsylvania pertaining to directional drilling and engineering, and is a member in good standing of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (Member #3458000). Dan currently manages field operations in Armstrong and Jefferson Counties and handles logistical implementation of new projects and subsidiary operations, including Turm’s trucking division.
